How the city pays for local bus service and reduces property tax subsidy

Watch for any written agreement or formula that sets Two Rivers’ Route 1 share and what service changes (if any) are tied to changing that share.

Typically discussed at Advisory Recreation Board. Check back when the next agenda is published.

Council spent late 2025 talking about how to shrink the property-tax support for Maritime Metro Transit Route 1 after a reported 44% subsidy increase over five years. The city’s stated aim was to keep the route running while shifting who pays. A resident flagged the obvious tradeoff: less city money can mean less service, including paratransit.
